Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

    Abstract

In the previous chapter, we review the conceptual frameworks for legal ethics and professional responsibiility and identified several goerning themes and tensions. In this chapter, we translate theses more abstract concerns into the day-to-day realities of legal practice by analyzing three areas of ethical concern: (a) formation of the lawyer-client relationship; (b) the obligations of competence and quality of service; and (c) terminating the lawyer-client relationship. These three broad areas generate several quite specific issues which we review chronologically.
