Abstract
This chapter is about the role of law in the creation and operation of the Canadian health care system and the possible role of law in the evolution of that system. It is particularly about the relationship between the law and the quasi-national program of public health insurance known as Medicare. Accordingly, it is about the branches of Canadian law that answer the basic questions of how the provision of health care services is financed and how the delivery of those services is organized, managed, regulated, and governed.
