    Abstract

Probably no defence, statutory or common law, has been the subject of so much judicial attention as the defence of duress. In R. v. Ryan , 2013 SCC 3, 98 C.R. (6th) 223 (S.C.C.) the Supreme Court made significant and admirable efforts to rationalize the two versions of the defence, but despite that, significant challenges remain in its application.
